“By security guarantees, the U.S. means commitments modeled on Article 5 of the NATO Charter. It’s the article whose content is commonly summarized as the obligation of alliance members to treat an attack on one of them as an attack on all”, - Axios writes, citing the draft of the relevant document.
If russia attacks Ukraine again, the U.S. president, after consultations with NATO and the EU, will provide military, intelligence, and logistical support, as well as economic and diplomatic measures, and so on. The security agreement is designed for 10 years with the possibility of extension.
It is expected that the document on guarantees will be signed by moscow, Kyiv, Washington, NATO, and the EU.
As reported earlier, the President of Ukraine officially received from the American side the draft plan that, according to the U.S. side, could activate diplomacy, and stated his readiness “to work on the plan’s points so that it brings a dignified end to the war”.
