“I spoke with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Thank you for the support and sympathy for our people. Hundreds of drones, missiles, including ballistic ones, were used by the russians against Ukrainians tonight. Unfortunately, there are destructions and damage, and the Embassy of Azerbaijan was also damaged. The President condemned this strike and emphasized that this is not the first time the russians have targeted both the Embassy building and other objects connected to Azerbaijan”, - President Zelensky reported in Telegram on November 14.
According to the BBC, the russian ambassador to Baku, Mikhail Yevdokimov, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan on November 14.
“During the meeting, a strong protest was expressed in connection with one of the Iskander-type missiles falling onto the territory of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a result of the missile-drone strike on the capital of Ukraine, the city of Kyiv, around 01:00 a.m. of November 14, and he was handed the corresponding note”, - the Ministry said.
According to the Azerbaijani MFA, the explosion completely destroyed part of the perimeter wall of the embassy, damaged buildings, service vehicles, the administrative building and the consular section of the embassy, and also seriously damaged the diplomatic complex, which was stated to the ambassador of russia.
At the same time, Yevdokimov was reminded that “such missile strikes, which contradict the norms and principles of international law, have occurred before.”
The statement goes on to list cases of the russian airstrike on the building of the honorary consulate of Azerbaijan in Kharkiv in 2022, the impact of munitions near the administrative buildings of the Azerbaijani embassy in 2024 and 2025, as well as the drone attacks on the SOCAR company’s oil depot in the Odesa oblast in August 2025.
“All these facts raise questions about the deliberate nature of the missile attacks”, - the Azerbaijani MFA said.
