"The use by russia in recent months of 9M729 missiles, banned under the INF Treaty, against Ukraine demonstrates putin’s disregard for the US and for President Trump’s diplomatic efforts to end the war", - Reuters quoted Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha as saying.
According to him, since August, russia has launched this missile at Ukraine 23 times. DW reported this on October 31.
The 9M729 missile previously caused tension in relations between russia and the US. Its development was carried out secretly, and little information is available about its specifications, but according to Washington D.C., the 9M729 can travel about 2,500 km and can potentially carry a nuclear warhead. This violates the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), which was signed between the USSR and the US in 1987. After obtaining data on the production of the 9M729, the US withdrew from the INF Treaty.
Moscow, however, claims that the maximum range of the 9M729 does not exceed 500 km and that, therefore, no agreements were violated.
As reported, Trump decided to immediately begin nuclear weapons testing after putin’s statements about the “Burevestnik” and “Poseidon”.
