“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law on the protection of land rights for owners of real estate destroyed as a result of hostilities (registration No. 13174)”, - reports the Rada’s Telegram channel on October 8.
What the law provides:
- Without land auctions: former owners of destroyed buildings or their heirs will be able to obtain the plots in ownership.
- During martial law + within 5 years after its termination or cancellation – land transfer (into ownership or use), change of designated purpose without the mandatory development of urban planning documentation, provided that the purpose corresponds to that of the object before destruction.
- Exemption from rent payments for diplomatic institutions in cases provided by international treaties.
- The possibility to change the size of protection zones of main pipelines.
- Clarification of the status of ponds as water bodies of local significance.
- Simplification of environmental assessment during martial law for defense industry and critical infrastructure facilities.
