"When it comes to buying Russian oil, it is now virtually down to Hungary and Slovakia. I hope and expect them to step up to the plate soon to help us end this bloodbath. If not, consequences should and will follow", - wrote U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham on X, reports NV.
Graham recalled that most EU countries have already significantly reduced imports of oil and gas from russia, but the situation remains problematic on the part of Hungary and Slovakia.
The politician emphasized that it is precisely these two countries that continue to purchase energy resources from moscow, while the rest of Europe has taken a significant step toward reducing dependence on russian resources.
Earlier, on September 4, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, at a press conference with French leader Emmanuel Macron, said that U.S. President Donald Trump was unhappy that Hungary and Slovakia were buying russian oil.
