On the evening of August 18, the enemy struck a residential multi-apartment block in the Industrialnyi district of Kharkiv with a ballistic missile. This was reported by the city mayor Ihor Terekhov around 11:00 p.m. on August 17.
“At the moment there are two injured, one of them a 13-year-old girl… The number of injured has risen to 11 people. Twelve multi-storey residential buildings were damaged”, - Terekhov reported after midnight.
At 5:04 a.m. on August 18, Terekhov reported that enemy Shaheds UAVs hit the Industrialnyi district of Kharkiv — one of the strikes hit a multi-storey residential building.
“In the residential building hit by the Shahed drone, there is a fire in two stairwells. In one, the floors from the second to the fourth are burning, in the other — the top floor is on fire… As a result of the collapse of floors, there is a risk that people may be trapped under the rubble”, - Terekhov later reported.
“Unfortunately, a one-year-old child was found dead… At the moment three people have been killed, including the toddler. Seventeen more are injured, among them six children. Another person was pulled out from under the rubble — fortunately, alive”, - subsequent reports said.
“According to preliminary information, there are still people under the rubble, their number is being clarified. The search and rescue operation continues”, - Terekhov stated at 7:14 a.m.
