On July 17, 2025, the bodies of 1,000 deceased individuals, presumably Ukrainian servicemen, were returned to Ukraine. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War (CHTPW) on its Telegram channel.

“As a result of the repatriation measures carried out, the bodies of 1,000 deceased individuals were returned to Ukraine. According to the russian side, the bodies belong to citizens of Ukraine, including servicemen”, - the message says.

It is noted that investigators from law enforcement agencies, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will carry out all necessary examinations and the procedure for body identification.

The headquarters expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for assisting in the repatriation, as well as to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for transporting the bodies to state specialized institutions and organizing their transfer.

“The return of the bodies became possible thanks to the joint work of the staff of the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the SBU, the AFU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other structures of Ukraine’s security and defense sector”, - the headquarters emphasized.
