Svyrydenko replaced former head of the Ukrainian government Denys Shmyhal, who had held the position for more than five years.

Svyrydenko was born in 1985. She graduated from Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics with a master's degree in “Management of Antimonopoly Activity”.

She began her career in 2008 in the private sector. Since 2015, she has held leadership positions in the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration: she headed the Department of Economic Development, served as the first deputy head of the Chernihiv oblast state administration, and from July to December 2018, she acted as the head of the regional administration.

In September 2019, she was appointed Deputy Minister, and from July 2020 — First Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.

On December 22, 2020, she was appointed Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Since November 4, 2021, she held the position of First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

Svyrydenko declared an income of 704,000 UAH for 2019, 826,000 UAH for 2020, 742,000 UAH for 2021, 975,000 UAH for 2022, 1.9 million UAH for 2023, and 4.4 million UAH for 2024.

Earlier the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the resolution on the resignation of the government of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
