Russia has completed the first part of its summer offensive campaign plan by fully occupying the Luhansk oblast and ramping up pressure along the entire front line. Military expert Roman Svitan said this in a comment to OstroV.

"The so-called russian summer military campaign continues. It's offensive, but still sluggish — the russians are preparing for the second wave in August–September. Reserves are being pulled up now, and that’s already visible in combat activity. The russians are pressing along the entire front line — mainly from the Zaporizhzhia to the Donbas direction", - he explained.

According to him, the strategic goal of the campaign is to capture the Donetsk oblast and the left-bank part of the Zaporizhzhia oblast.

"They’ve already fully captured the Luhansk oblast. Now they’re concentrating on the Donetsk oblast and the left-bank part of the Zaporizhzhia oblast. That’s the first part of their summer campaign — and it’s already partially implemented", - the expert clarified.

He noted that the russians have not yet deployed their main reserves and heavy equipment, as they are preparing them for the second phase of the offensive.

"The main reserves, which could carry out a full-scale operational breakthrough and enter open terrain, haven’t yet been committed. The equipment isn’t ready yet. Right now, we’re seeing preparatory actions. russian troops are mainly using infantry in so-called shaping operations — they’re probing our defense to figure out where they can later try to break through", - said Roman Svitan.
