"Firefighting and clearing of debris are still ongoing after yet another russian strike. This was one of the most massive air assaults—deliberately significant and cynical. A total of 550 targets, including at least 330 russian-iranian ‘Shahed’ drones, were used, along with missiles, including ballistic ones. The first air raid alarms in our cities and regions yesterday began almost simultaneously with the media coverage of President Trump’s phone call with putin. Russia once again demonstrates that it has no intention of ending the war and terror. Only around 9 a.m. today did the air alert in Kyiv end. A harsh, sleepless night", - President Zelensky wrote on Telegram on July 4.
He emphasized that the capital was the main target of this russian strike.
"Our forces managed to shoot down 270 aerial targets; another 208 drones were suppressed by electronic warfare. Interceptor drones are now in action—dozens were shot down. We are doing everything to develop this direction of defense for our cities. And it’s very important that partner support for ballistic defense continues. 'Patriots' and missiles for them are real lifesavers", - Zelensky noted.
According to him, in addition to Kyiv, the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Kyiv oblasts were also affected by today’s russian strike.
"As of now, 23 people are known to be injured. All are receiving assistance. Many locations report drone and missile debris falling. Unfortunately, there are also direct hits. And all of this is clear evidence that without truly large-scale pressure, russia will not change its dumb, destructive behavior. For every such strike on people and lives, there must be retaliatory sanctions and other blows to their economy, their income, their infrastructure. That is the only thing that can be achieved quickly to improve the situation. And this depends on the partners—first and foremost, the United States", - Zelensky stated.
