As part of the latest stage of repatriation, Ukraine managed to return the bodies of 1,212 defenders who died fighting for the freedom and independence of our state.
Among the fallen Heroes are defenders who died in the territories of: the Kursk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson oblasts.
The return of the bodies became possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Coordination Headquarters on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other structures of the security and defense sector.
