According to the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the number of killed and wounded Ukrainians is estimated at 400,000, reports the Telegram channel “The Moscow Times”.
It is noted that the main tactic of putin’s commanders remains human wave assaults, during which countless soldiers die or are maimed—sometimes managing to advance only 50 meters a day. Although the russian army continues to push forward, the effectiveness of such tactics is minimal: since January 2024, it has captured less than 1% of Ukrainian territory, according to the CSIS report cited by The New York Times. Currently, russia occupies about 20% of Ukraine.
“The russian military campaign in Ukraine is one of the slowest offensive campaigns in the history of modern warfare”б - says Seth Jones, one of the CSIS study’s authors. “They’ve taken nearly a million losses, captured a tiny patch of land, and lost a massive amount of equipment”.
As reported, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of June 4, total russian combat losses from 24.02.2022 to 04.06.2025 are estimated at approximately 991,820 personnel.
