According to Orban, the expansion of the European Union is a noble idea, but not when it comes to Ukraine’s accession: supposedly, for the “Brussels bureaucracy” it’s a “profitable deal in the context of a lost war”.
“Ukraine will suck up every euro, forint, and zloty that we’ve so far spent on strengthening European families, European farmers, and European industry”, - he asserts categorically.
The Hungarian prime minister continues that in ten years he “won’t be able to answer to his conscience, to his grandchildren, and to the country” if he doesn’t now “do everything to protect Hungary and the European Union from Brussels’ dream of Ukraine’s accession”.
