President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the proposal from the russian side, which was included in the Memorandum handed over today, June 2, in Istanbul, regarding a ceasefire for 2–3 days in specific areas of the front so the Ukrainian side could retrieve the bodies of fallen soldiers in those areas. While speaking with journalists, the president stated that such a proposal from russia is merely a rhetorical game, reports 24 Channel.
“Well, basically they don’t see a ceasefire as such. They said they’re ready for a 2–3 day ceasefire to retrieve the dead from the battlefield. I think they’re idiots. Because a ceasefire should be to prevent people from being killed”, - emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.
Earlier, russian media reported that the head of the russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, stated that moscow would hand over 6,000 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers to Kyiv.
