According to kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, negotiations between the countries should be conducted privately and directly, reports the Telegram channel "DW Glavnoe".
Peskov also called Ukraine’s demand to receive in advance the russian version of the memorandum — which is presumably to be discussed in Istanbul on June 2 — “unconstructive”. Ukraine, meanwhile, has already handed over its version of the memorandum to russia, as previously stated by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
The day before, the official representative of russia’s foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, also stated that russia insists on keeping the details of the negotiations secret while not providing the other side with its version of the agreement until the actual meeting. During the meeting between the russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, media also reported that russian negotiators were opposed to the presence of representatives from other countries in the room.
