Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated his readiness to meet with vladimir putin if the decision on a ceasefire can be discussed immediately without preliminary technical meetings. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
"If our decision can be discussed right away without technical meetings at the level of leaders – we are ready to meet directly at the leadership level without a technical meeting. If putin is uncomfortable with a bilateral meeting, or if everyone wants it to be a trilateral meeting – I don’t care. I’m ready for any format", - Zelensky said during a press briefing on May 27.
However, the president believes that at least one meeting will definitely be technical.
"We are ready to meet at the leadership level. And the American side knows this, and the russian side knows this. We are ready for the Trump-putin-me format, and we are ready for the Trump-putin, Trump-Zelensky, and then all three together format", - Zelensky added.
He also noted that there are matters which depend not only on Ukraine and russia. For example, in the matter of a ceasefire, a productive meeting would be the U.S., russia, and Ukraine, because someone has to monitor it, and Ukraine trusts America and its military intelligence.
"If there is a meeting, for instance, on security guarantees – I very much want Europeans to be present. This is about them providing those security guarantees. They are the only ones today who have already declared their readiness to support Ukraine. For example, the Ukrainian army, financially and with weapons", - Zelensky emphasized.
