On the anniversary of the takeover by russian saboteurs, local media once again claimed that “the use of combat aviation against Donetsk airport in 2014 revealed the essence of the Kyiv regime — to annihilate dissenters at the root”. In reality, on May 26, 2014, russian militants, many of them from the Caucasus, seized Donetsk airport. As a result of a special operation by Ukrainian security forces, supported by combat aviation, the terrorists were driven out of the strategic site. These events can indeed be considered the beginning of active combat in Donetsk — but it wasn’t Ukraine that started it, it was russia and its minions in Donbas.
