Finland has become one of the participants in the EU program that provides military aid to Ukraine funded by the proceeds from frozen russian assets in Europe—€90 million has been allocated for this. This was announced by the Finnish Ministry of Defence, according to European Pravda.
Finland was selected as one of the countries that will participate in providing aid to Ukraine using income from frozen russian assets.
The agreement with the European Commission stipulates that Finland will deliver large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine. The ammunition will be purchased from the Finnish defense industry and paid for with the proceeds from the frozen assets, which will be funneled through the European Peace Facility, amounting to a total of €90 million.
Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen noted that this scheme simultaneously secures jobs in Finland’s defense industry and provides support to Ukraine.
"This new package, along with our national support program worth €660 million, will contribute to building a stronger link between the Finnish defense industry and Finland’s support for Ukraine. It's a great example of what Finland’s defense sector is capable of, and it shows that our investments in production capacity are paying off", - he said.
