The occupation "authorities" consider the possibility of launching a brewery in Donetsk controlled by militants. So-called "Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of the DPR" Alexey Granovsky wrote about that on Facebook.

Answering the question whether work of Donetsk brewery will be resumed, Granovsky wrote: "Yes. Wait for the news."

Donetsk brewery called Sarmat was built and launched in 1962.

In 2012 the plant was purchased by Efes Breweries International holding company, a member of the Turkish Anadolu Group.

In the first half of 2014 the Ukrainian division of Turkish Anadolu Efes company was the only growing representative of the domestic beer industry. But after the beginning of military operations in Donbass, the company was actually cut off from its plant in Donetsk. By the end of 2015 all Anadolu Efes products on the Ukrainian market wereimported. Beer was imported from Efes sites in Moldova and Turkey.
