Russian dictator putin is willing to stop the war in Ukraine if an agreement is reached to establish a ceasefire that maintains the current positions of the parties along the battle lines. This was reported by four russian sources to Reuters, according to the BBC.
However, according to the sources, if Kyiv and the West do not agree to this, putin is prepared to continue the war.
Three sources familiar with discussions within putin's inner circle told the agency that he expressed frustration in conversations with a small group of advisors, believing that Western countries are supporting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's decision to rule out any peace talks with moscow.
"Putin can fight for as long as it takes, but he is also ready for a ceasefire to freeze the war", - said a fourth high-ranking russian source who has worked with putin and has experience in high-level negotiations in the kremlin.
It was previously reported that a russian historian observed "great nervousness and an increasing desire to end the adventure he has embarked on" in putin's actions.
