The Deputy Chief of the russian General Staff, Vadim Shamarin, has been arrested for two months on charges of receiving a particularly large bribe, according to a report by "BRIEF" on May 23.

"Lieutenant General Vadim Shamarin, the head of the Main Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces, who is also the deputy to General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov, has been detained", - the report states.

The 235th Garrison Military Court clarified that Shamarin has been arrested for two months in connection with the bribe case.

Previously, it was reported that Valery Gerasimov remains the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the russian federation.
