The tragedy in Chernihiv wouldn't have occurred if Ukraine had received sufficient air defense resources and if the world's resolve in countering russian terror had been adequate as well. President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the russian missile strike on Chernihiv on April 17.
"Chernihiv. The rescue operation continues after the russian missile strike. People are trapped under debris. As of now, there are reports of 20 injured and 10 dead. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Unfortunately, the death toll may rise. And this wouldn't have happened if Ukraine had received enough air defense resources and if the world's resolve in countering russian terror had been adequate as well. Terrorists can disrupt lives only when they manage to intimidate those who are capable of stopping terror and protecting lives. Resolve matters. Support matters. Ukrainian resolve is sufficient. What is needed is sufficient resolve from partners and adequate support that reflects it", - Zelensky stated.
