On the morning of February 8, the deputy chairman of the Nikopol City Council was shot and killed. This was reported by the police communication department of the Dnipropetrovsk oblast.
"At about 9 a.m. on February 8, the police received a report that an unknown assailant had fired at the car belonging to the deputy chairman of the Nikopol City Council. At the scene, the police determined that the assailant used an unidentified weapon, causing the car to catch fire. After extinguishing the fire, the body of a 59-year-old man was found in the vehicle", - the statement said.
It is noted that the entire personnel of the regional police is focused on the search for the suspect. The leadership of the regional police, KORD special forces, and all law enforcement agencies were dispatched to the scene to apprehend the armed attacker. The police have identified the features of the assailant. Currently, the collection and analysis of physical evidence are underway, and operational and investigative measures are being taken to apprehend the suspect.
"Information on this fact has been entered into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 115, paragraph 5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder)", - the statement also said.
Earlier, it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) had neutralized a criminal group in Dnipro involved in abductions.
