President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his address to the European Council on December 14, urged "not to betray the people and their faith in Europe". This was reported in the President's Telegram channel.

"Today is the day when determination will be either in Brussels or in moscow. People in Europe will not understand if putin's satisfied smile is the reward for the meeting in Brussels. I spoke with many of you recently. We are talking about a solution that was promised. And I haven't heard a single counterargument about why we shouldn't stick to the plan approved by all of Europe", - noted Zelensky in his address.

"Last year, Ukraine received clear recommendations on how to proceed. We passed key laws. Today, I ask you for one thing - not to betray the people and their faith in Europe. Europe must prevail, treaties must be honored, and words must have meaning", - emphasized the President of Ukraine.

As reported, the European Council recommends accelerating military support for Ukraine and initiating official negotiations on joining the EU.
