During his working trip to the Zaporizhzhia oblast, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the positions of brigades conducting offensive operations on the Melitopol direction. The Office of the Head of State reported this on August 15.
Zelensky received reports from commanders on the progress of combat operations and discussed the most pressing issues of their units with the military.
"The military emphasized the need for radio-electronic warfare means and front-line air defense systems to counter the enemy's aviation and drones. There is also a need for drones, as they are quickly expended in the conditions of offensive actions", - the message states.
Furthermore, Volodymyr Zelensky shared videos on his Telegram channel from his meetings with Ukrainian defenders.
"Today we continued our work and meetings with our defenders in the Melitopol direction. I paid a visit to the 3rd operational brigade named after Colonel Petro Bolbochan. The brigade took part in combat missions in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, in defensive battles for Kharkiv, in the liberation of villages and towns near Kharkiv, and is currently conducting offensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia direction. We discussed the most problematic issues with the brigade commander", - the head of state writes.
"The frontline command post of the 46th separate airmobile brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thank you for defending Ukraine in the Orikhiv sector", - the President comments on the video.
"The 118th separate mechanized brigade is among the brigades conducting offensive operations in the Melitopol sector. Step by step, they are resolutely moving towards the necessary result", - Zelensky writes.
"The positions of the 47th separate mechanized brigade, which is performing combat missions in the Orikhiv sector. We have discussed topical issues, solutions, the course of hostilities, the needs of our troops — everything is under control", - the head of state shared.
He also added that he paid a visit to the 117th separate mechanized brigade. "The brigade's warriors are performing tasks in the Orikhiv sector. We discussed in detail all the issues and needs of the defenders with each commander. I thank the warriors for their strength! We are proud of you", - Zelensky summarized.
