The main building of Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade is gone. Such a statement was made by Svetlana Drozhzhina, the "rector" of the Ukrainian university captured by russian occupiers.

"The building itself no longer exists. It housed a conference hall where candidate and doctoral dissertation defenses took place. Also, all the university's administration and main management structures were located here, including the admissions committee. Legal documents, employment records—they were kept in the basement. We hope they are intact. The documents about the university's history since 1920 were destroyed along with the museum", - local media quoted her as saying.

As reported earlier, the fire in the DonNUET building started on the evening of August 5th and was only brought under control by 5 am on August 6th.
