The National Academic Symphonic Band of Ukraine announced that their musician Kostiantyn Starovytskyi has been killed on the front while defending his country from the russian invasion.
"Today the orchestra suffered an irreparable loss. Our colleague Kostiantyn Starovytskyi was killed while defending us, defending the entire Ukraine, on the Kramatorsk front", - the statement said.
The National Philharmonic of Ukraine also wrote about the musician's death: "A musician, conductor, father and son died in the war. Hero Kostiantyn Starovytskyi. We express our sincere condolences to his family, relatives, friends, fellow soldiers and colleagues".
Kostiantyn Starovytskyi was born on October 30, 1982 in Brovary, Ukraine. He graduated from the Orchestral Faculty of the National Music Academy of Ukraine.
As a conductor and director at the Kyiv Opera, he created several productions, including the comedic opera Rita by Gaetano Donizetti. The opera was nominated for the Kyiv Pectoral-2016 Theater Award in four categories.
He was also one of the directors and authors of the Ukrainian translation of the comedic opera The Marriage Contract by Gioacchino Rossini. He was the winner of the Musical Tavria Third All-Ukrainian Festival of Conducting Art, which took place in Kherson in 2011.
From the first days of the full-scale russian invasion, Kostiantyn served as a senior rifleman in the guard unit of the Brovary District Territorial Center. He then continued his service in the Kharkiv oblast.
Starovytskyi is survived by his underage daughter, wife and mother.
