Less than 4 thousand people remain in the city of Bakhmut, which has been the site of intense fighting for the past 4 months. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk announced this figure during the Ukrainian news TV marathon.

The evacuation is complicated by the fact that people do not leave information about their whereabouts. Due to constant shelling, they hide in basements and bomb shelters, and rescue teams find it difficult to locate specific individuals accurately. Among those remaining in the city are 38 children.

"These residents, especially children who are entirely dependent on adults, are defenseless. They spend many days and nights in an information vacuum and extreme stress. Therefore, they cannot adequately assess the threat to their lives and the lives of their children. It is our obligation to reach them, explain the danger, and evacuate", - said Vereshchuk.

As previously reported, Zelensky explained why it is so crucial to hold positions in Bakhmut.
