The Ukrainian command did not make a decision on the withdrawal of troops of the Defense Forces from Bakhmut in the Donetsk oblast, where fierce fighting continues. Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty said this in a commentary to CNN on March 1.
"If we see that the threat to our personnel and our operational situation is greater than the need to hold the territory, we do it (withdraw troops - OstroV), but we do it in an organized manner, without panic", - he said.
According to him, the command evaluates the need for such a solution in each specific situation.
“Only the command sees whether such a need exists in this situation. And then an appropriate decision is made at a meeting of the General Staff. I can say that there is no such decision as of now”, - Cherevaty stressed.
