The law on the special order for local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts may be extended. This was told by first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"I just spoke with Kostin (head of the parliamentary committee on legal policy Andriy Kostin - ed.) yesterday, he is now our chief in the TCG (Trilateral Contract Group for the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine - ed.) as the first deputy (chairman of the TCG - ed.). This happened because Leonid Kravchuk is still undergoing treatment. We agreed this week or next to hold the necessary meetings and consultations with the President and with Andriy Yermak (head of the President's Office - ed.), who oversees the peace process, in order to come to a decision on this law. I think everyone is on the subject and there is no need to say once again why it should be extended every year. Formally, it is a marker for the Russian party that we remain in the Minsk process. The law is not valid, not a single article comes into force. It is only extended annually", - Korniyenko said.
