230 thousand citizens of Ukraine living in the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts have taken part in the so-called "election" to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. This was reported by Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova in Telegram.

"They were forcibly issued passports and taken out to vote on the territory of Russia", - the ombudsman clarified.

Another 150 thousand public sector workers and students voted in 255 "information centers" in the Donetsk oblast and in 141 - in the Luhansk region, with the obligatory registration on the Public Services Portal of the Russian Federation.

"The holding of election in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is a gross violation of the generally recognized principles and norms of international law, primarily with regard to respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of Ukraine, enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Final Act) and the Charter of the Council of Europe, the memorandum on security guarantees in connection with Ukraine's accession to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (Budapest Memorandum)", - Denisova noted.

She hopes that law enforcement agencies will take measures to identify all participants in illegal actions in organizing and holding election to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in order to bring them to justice.

As OstroV reported, co-founder of the Eastern Human Rights Group Pavlo Lysiansky also stated that the so-called occupation "authorities" in certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts did not receive the expected result in the Duma election. Instead of the supposed 450 thousand people online or offline, having left with illegally obtained passports of the Russian Federation for the Rostov oblast, only 150 thousand voted as a result, in most cases - under coercion.
