The majority of Ukrainians (62%) believe that the reluctance to negotiate on the part of the Russian leadership hinders the achievement of peace in the Donbas. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by the Razumkov Centre jointly with the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation.

62% of Ukrainians believe that the refusal and unwillingness of the Russian leadership to negotiate stands in the way of a compromise to achieve peace in the Donbas.

At the same time, the Ukrainian side is accused of unwillingness to end the war and fulfill the Minsk agreements by only 19%, most of whom are residents of the East (35% of the macroregion) and the South (27%).

The research was conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Centre in cooperation with the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation from May 14 to 19, 2021 in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of Crimea and the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblast. 2020 respondents aged 18 and over were surveyed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
