Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova has signed a suspicion to People's Deputy from Servant of the People Oleksandr Yurchenko and a petition to apply him a measure of restraint in the form of detention. Venediktova herself reported this on her Facebook.

"The criminal saga associated with the deputy has its logical and legal continuation. We spent several hours in this case together with the SAPO prosecutors studying the materials (I emphasize - MATERIALS, not certificates or drafts drawn up on my behalf) of this criminal proceeding, as a result of which I made a decision and, accordingly, accepted the responsibility to sign the suspicion to the People's Deputy and the petition to apply a measure of restraint - detention. I am grateful to the SAPO prosecutors for the high-quality preparation of the case and the ability to analyze complex materials in a short time", - she noted.

Venediktova stressed that she is "out of politics".

"There are no political peculiarities or immunities in offenses, full stop. The overall goal is a tough response to corruption in the government. The conversation with violators of the law is short. We carry it out in one tone from the first day - zero tolerance, but the General Prosecutor's reaction depends on the professionally prepared materials of the criminal proceedings, which were provided for the study. Now measures are being taken to implement these decisions", - the Prosecutor General summed up.

As previously reported, the NABU exposed the assistant to deputy Oleksandr Yurchenko from the Servant of the People faction on bribe taking. According to People's Deputy Geo Leros, the assistant took the first 13 thousand of the 200 thousand dollars that were offered to Yurchenko for a bill related to household waste. After that, the deputy expressed a desire to leave the faction and the party for the duration of investigation of the case of receiving a bribe, which was supposedly intended for him. He applied for exclusion from the faction. Prosecutor General Venediktova stated in the Verkhovna Rada on September 15 that there were no grounds yet for announcing suspicion to Yurchenko. On September 15, Ivan Fischenko, whom the NABU suspects of bribery in collusion with People's Deputy of Servant of the People Oleksandr Yurchenko, was taken into custody with the possibility of paying a bail of $35.6 thousand.
