The first death from coronavirus infection was registered in the Donetsk oblast. This was reported by chairman of the Donetsk regional state administration Pavlo Kyrylenko on his Facebook.
"The first death from coronavirus was recorded in the Donetsk region. An 84-year-old man died in Druzhkivka, the presence of COVID-19 was confirmed by laboratory tests. Now work to identify the range of his contacts is underway", - Pavlo Kyrylenko wrote.
The head of the oblast expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Earlier, the media reported that a patient with suspected coronavirus COVID-19 died in the Druzhkivka hospital on April 3.
The elderly man with respiratory disturbance was hospitalized by an ambulance team to the Central Clinical Hospital on April 1. According to the patient himself, he did not have communication with persons who arrived from abroad or were in contact with those for the past two weeks. Therefore, he received treatment in a usual unit. Due to the worsening condition of the patient, doctors conducted a quick test for COVID-19 on April 3. It showed a positive result.
