The Russian government has banned the export of Russian oil and oil products to Ukraine. This was reported by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a government meeting on Thursday, - TASS reports.

"A ban is being placed on the export of Russian oil and oil products to Ukraine", - the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said.

Medvedev also reported an extension of the ban on the import of some Ukrainian goods. "We have to defend our interests and take retaliatory measures", - the prime minister stated.

"I signed a government decree on this topic. We are extending the ban on the import of certain types of goods to Russia, this measure will affect Ukrainian engineering products, consumer goods industry and metalworking, the cost of which amounted to almost $250 million over the past year", - Medvedev noted.

He clarified that some domestic goods could be exported to Ukraine only after special permission. "The list of those goods that can be exported to Ukraine from June 1 of this year only on the basis of separate permits is being determined. This category includes fuel and energy complex products, including coal and oil, and oil products", - the Russian prime minister noted.
