Paul Manafort who headed the presidential campaign of the US President Donald Trump, had advised the Opposition Bloc during the election campaign for the Verkhovna Rada in 2014 and had received $1 million from the political force. This was stated by the Opposition Bloc People's Deputy Nestor Shufrych to the Bloomberg agency, - Livyi Bereh reports.

According to N. Shufrych, Manafort advised the political force to oppose NATO and position itself as a mouthpiece of the interests of "Russians of the Eastern Ukraine". Shufrych said that he had drunk a bottle of cognac in Kyiv along with Manafort, celebrating the passage of the Opposition Bloc to parliament.

According to the agency, Manafort personally approved the list of party candidates for the election.

As previously reported, Manafort had to leave the post of head of Donald Trump's campaign headquarters before the presidential election in the USA in August 2016. The reason was the news that Manafort had received almost $13 million in cash from the Party of Regions.
