The court of last resort allowed the confiscation of the arrested $1.5 billion that belonged to the former President Viktor Yanukovych's team. This was stated by the official representative of the National Security and Defence Council Anna Vakhotska, - Ukrinform reports.

"The decision of the court of last resort to confiscate the arrested funds that belonged to the Yanukovych's team came into force today. $1.5 billion should be transferred to the state budget", - A. Vakhotska noted.

According to her, the Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko and the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov went to the President Petro Poroshenko at the moment to report to him on the situation. The official spokesperson of the NSDC noted that Lutsenko and Turchynov were in Oschadbank with the court decision beforehand.

"They reported this to the leadership of Oschadbank and went to report it to the President. At the moment, these funds are being recounted to the accounts of the State Treasury, so they are being returned to the budget", - Vakhotska said.

As previously reported, the State Financial Monitoring Service has blocked $1.42 billion in accounts of non-resident companies connected with the former President Viktor Yanukovych, his relatives, former members of the government and related persons on January 28, 2015. $395.5 million from special confiscation are included into the state budget for 2017.
