Former police major was exposed to be "on duty" at the militants checkpoint in his spare time in 2014 - reported National Police’s communication department in Donetsk region.

As a result of operational investigative activities to identify the persons involved in the occupation of the region, employees of the Konstantinovka police station identified a 40-year-old man, who was a former employee of the linear police department.

"In June 2014, he was living a double life. While working in the Ukrainian police, in his spare time the man was on duty at the terrorists checkpoint at Ostrovskaya Str. The man was given a gun and camouflage. He checked the documents of citizens and searched cars, hunting for "Bandera’s followers ", i.e. Ukraine’s patriots", - the statement says.

The man’s family had no idea about his "hobby". Later he voluntarily resigned from the Interior Ministry authorities. After liberation from the occupiers, he stayed in Konstantinovka, not tempted by the “DPR” life. He stopped contacting his former colleagues and friends, got a job at a local boarding school. However, the former police major was exposed by the police, who provided evidence of his illegal activities. Now the man will stand trial.

Two 18 year old young men were also influenced by the pro-Russian propaganda. One of them was convicted of theft and was registered in the children's room of militia. From May to June 2014, they carried out the crossing regime at other Konstantinovka checkpoint with weapons in their hands.

When the city was liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the two also remained in their hometown because they were confident that no one will find out about their activities.

Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 2 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (the creation of extra-legal armed formations or participation in their activities). The article provides a sanction of imprisonment of three to eight years.

Since the beginning of the year, 604 terrorists and their accomplices were exposed. 301 terrorist was arrested, 303 more are wanted.
