The russian Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that the ruling “United Russia” party secured a constitutional majority in the russian State Duma following the “elections” held on September 18–20, Meduza writes.
“United Russia” will hold 355 of the 450 seats in the lower house of the russian parliament. This is the largest faction in the party’s history, having previously held a maximum of 343 seats (after the 2016 elections).
Following the previous “elections” in 2021, the “United Russia” faction in the State Duma consisted of 324 deputies.
The “United Russia” political party has effectively remained in power continuously since the early 2000s. The political force is headed by Dmitry Medvedev.
