The West is provoking a “nuclear catastrophe” through its actions against russia, Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, told the “Podyom” publication, the Telegram channel “The Moscow Times” reported on August 31.
Kolesnik accused “unfriendly” countries of having “become brazen” because they do not believe moscow is ready to take “radical measures”. According to the lawmaker, russia could use nuclear weapons in the event of strikes of comparable magnitude against its territory.
“The West is pushing us toward this. God forbid, they could simply force us into it”, - Kolesnik said.
The lawmaker added that “by default, it is clear to everyone” that the “world is now heading toward a nuclear catastrophe”, and that if a new large-scale war begins, “there will be no fourth world war — not with sticks, nor with bows, nor with arrows”, because “the Earth will collapse in on itself”.
“Western Europe and the United States come forward with some supposedly good intentions, while they themselves aggravate the conflict in every way they can. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. So there is nothing reassuring for anyone”, - Kolesnik concluded.
