During the night of July 6, Ukraine's air defense was unable to intercept any of the 29 missiles flying on ballistic trajectories. The reason was a shortage of missiles for the Patriot air defense systems, which are capable of destroying ballistic targets. This was stated by Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Colonel Yurii Ihnat during the national television marathon, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

"The result is low, to put it mildly. To shoot down ballistic missiles, you need the means to do it. We have enough systems; what we need is a constant supply of missiles. The russians are taking advantage of the fact that Ukraine, and indeed the world, faces a serious shortage of PAC-2 and PAC-3 interceptor missiles, which is why they are increasingly relying on ballistic missile strikes", - Ihnat said.

The Air Force spokesperson recalled that in his evening address the previous day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky placed special emphasis on the need for deliveries of missiles for Patriot systems.

According to Ihnat, ahead of large-scale attacks, the head of state addresses not only Ukrainians but, above all, Ukraine's international partners, warning them that russia is preparing massive strikes using various means of attack, including a large number of ballistic missiles.

He also expressed confidence that Ukraine would continue using every diplomatic opportunity to strengthen its air defense system.
