“Ukraine is not only containing the russian offensive, but is also increasingly effectively bringing the war onto the territory of the russian federation. In recent months, Ukrainian forces have significantly intensified long-range strikes on key objects of the russian economy and infrastructure. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, for the first time in history, the number of dead in russia exceeds the number of wounded. Thus, Ukrainians are not only fighting bravely — they are fighting effectively”, - the Telegram channel “Sternenko” quoted U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio as saying during congressional hearings on June 4.
“Our role is to determine whether there is a path to a peaceful settlement. In the end, this war will end at the negotiating table. However, this is difficult to achieve because the positions of the parties regarding the end of the war remain very far apart”, - Rubio is quoted as saying.
UNIAN also cites Rubio’s statement about the strategic mistake of the russian leadership, which decided to start a war with Ukraine.
“Almost no one in the world anymore, and I think even some russians, have any doubt that the invasion of Ukraine was a strategic mistake. Russia will definitely not achieve the goals it declared on the first day. And russia may never achieve by military means the objectives it is now demanding at the negotiating table”, - the Secretary of State expressed confidence.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, total combat losses of the russian army from 24.02.22 to 04.06.26 are estimated at about 1,369,340 personnel.
