“The police have launched an investigation into Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (the Smer-SD party) on charges of treason and other crimes. This was written on social media by the leader of the opposition party SaS, Branislav Gröhling”, - the Slovak outlet Aktuality reported on March 26.

“A month ago, I filed a complaint with the police against Fico on charges of treason and other crimes. In addition to my colleagues from SaS, more than 13,000 people joined this complaint, making it the largest in history”, - Gröhling’s words are quoted.

It is noted that the case has already been transferred from the General Prosecutor’s Office to the police for investigation.

The opposition accuses the head of government not only of treason, but also of abuse of power, crimes against humanity, and even involvement in terrorism.

“I am convinced that Fico is suspected of committing serious crimes, so I appreciate that both the prosecutor’s office and the police are acting on this issue and are not keeping it silent”, - Gröhling also noted.

The media specify that the criminal complaint is based on Fico’s actions related to energy security. In particular, it concerns his initiatives to stop supplying emergency electricity to Ukraine.
