“Restoring navigation in the Strait of Hormuz should not be a mission of NATO, the British prime minister believes. According to Keir Starmer, this will require the work of a broad alliance including partners from the Persian Gulf countries, as well as European countries and the United States”, - writes BBC News Russian Service on March 16.

“We are working with others to develop a convincing plan for the Strait of Hormuz that will allow us to resume navigation and passage through the strait. Let me be clear: this will not be and was never planned as a NATO mission”, - Keir Starmer told journalists during a briefing on 10 Downing Street.

“This must be an alliance of partners, so we are working with partners both in Europe and in the Persian Gulf countries, and with the United States”, - Reuters quotes the British prime minister as saying.

Starmer also added that the issue of unblocking the Strait of Hormuz is currently under discussion; the parties are not yet at the decision-making stage.

“The foreign minister of Germany (Johann Wadephul — OstroV) said on the air of ARD that safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz — the world’s most important oil export route — can only be achieved through negotiations. At present, Berlin sees no reason for their armed forces to participate”, - writes DW News on March 16.
