This was reported by "European Pravda" with reference to the EU Council.

According to the report, on July 18, the EU Council adopted the 18th package of economic and individual restrictive measures, which will hit russia's energy, banking, and military sectors, as well as trade with the EU.

In addition, the EU Council supplemented this package by agreeing on additional measures against Belarus.

The sanctions package includes 55 individuals: 14 natural and 41 legal entities. From now on, the total number of persons included in the list exceeds 2,500.

The EU's chief diplomat Kaja Kallas called this sanctions package "one of the toughest" packages against russia.

"Each sanction weakens russia's ability to wage war. The message is clear: Europe will not back down in its support for Ukraine. The EU will continue to increase pressure until russia stops the war", - she stated.

The EU Council approved the sanctions package shortly after EU ambassadors agreed to it on Friday morning. This became possible because slovakia and malta backed off from blocking it.

The package includes sanctions against 105 vessels of the "shadow fleet", a reduction of the price cap on russian oil, and measures against banks and companies outside the russian federation involved in supporting its war machine.
