Ukraine has caught up with russia in the production of kamikaze drones, similar to the Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 models, in 2024, according to the director of Ukroboronprom, Herman Smetanin, in an interview with the publication ArmyInform.

He mentioned that a series of contracts have been signed with private manufacturers, mostly involving licensed production. Specifically, this includes drone production. Since private enterprises cannot meet the required quantity, they enter into licensing agreements, and Ukroboronprom enterprises are involved in the production process.

"And this has already yielded results. In 2024, Ukraine caught up with russia in the production quantity of kamikaze drones, similar to the Shahed-131 and Shahed-136, as well as in the production of other strike UAVs", - Smetanin said.

He confirmed the statement made by the Minister for Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamyshin, who said, "What explodes in russia is all ours".

Additionally, a significant number of private development enterprises and scientists have been involved in the development of new types of weapons. There are more innovative developments and those that correspond to tomorrow's needs, the director of Ukroboronprom added.
