NATO countries need to invite Ukraine to the Alliance. There is no alternative to this decision because the russian dictator Putin wants to destroy Ukraine. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda.
Zelensky noted that every democratic nation in Europe deserves membership in the European Union and NATO. This fact should be backed by real actions.
"June is the time when it would be right to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU. Europe needs this signal of its own strength so that putin does not feel tempted to think that Europe is showing weakness", - emphasized the head of the Ukrainian state.
According to him, a similar situation should exist with NATO, as the russian dictator putin does not take into account the actions of the West when planning his moves. He "builds his own schedule of escalation as much as he can".
"Putin wants to destroy us, destroy Ukraine, and then subdue all of russia's neighbors. Our security simply has no alternative. Therefore, there are no real alternatives to inviting Ukraine to NATO. An invitation to the Alliance is needed. All our people and soldiers deserve this", - Zelensky added.
The President clarified that the invitation of Ukraine to NATO is "real this year".
It is worth noting that the NATO summit will take place in Washington on July 9-11. Ukraine already expects that during the meeting, leaders will make decisions that will bring our country closer to membership in the Alliance.
As reported, Polish President Andrzej Duda believes that Ukraine's accession to NATO is impossible until the war with russia is over, but he believes that the procedure could have been started even at this stage.
